The Currier and Ives Scenic Byway
This 30-mile drive through the Merrimack Valley is less than a half hour drive from Concord, this jaw-dropping drive takes you through some of the most beautiful country in New England. The Currier and Ives Scenic Byway begins in Hillsboro, NH. Take Route 202 and travel northeast along the Contoocook River and your journey rewards you with a stunning view of Pat's Peak in Henniker.You'll then arrive at the picturesque town of Hopkinton, once the state capital of New Hampshire. Jump on the Route 103 to 127 junction and head north towards Warner and Webster. Along the way, make sure to stop for a photo op at the oldest surviving railroad bridge across the Contoocook River. This is the perfect spot to stop and grab a bite and check out the local shops. As you continue onward, you'll see stunning views of Mount Kearsarge in Wilmot while passing through Salisbury.
The Lakes Tour Byway
When summer turns to fall on Lake Winnipesaukee nature turns this beautiful lake into an electrifying display of color! The lakes region is just a 30-minute drive from Concord and it's well worth the trip!This 75-mile loop starts and ends in Alton, NH. Start your tour in Alton and take Route 11 towards Gilford and family friendly Weirs Beach where there's plenty of fun attraction, arcades, and shops for the family to enjoy. When you're ready to continue, jump on Route 25 in Meredith and take a leisurely drive through Center Harbor which is the perfect place to grab lunch and take pictures.
Continue along Route 25 to Moultonborough, then hop onto 109 and head past Cow Island towards historic Wolfeboro – the oldest summer resort in the country. Complete the loop by taking Route 28 at the junction back to Alton.
The Merrimack Valley Tour: Concord to Loudon to Pittsfield Loop
This trip starts at our front door and features plenty of scenic farm views, shopping for local arts and crafts and maybe even some apple picking for the kids!Leave Concord on Loudon Road / Route 9 and take Route 106 north towards Loudon. When you reach Loudon, jump on Route 129 north through the quaint center of the town and head towards Lower Gilmanton. If you're in the mood to take in the scenery with a relaxing glass of wine, stop at the Gilmanton Winery and Vineyard, an do a tasting of their delicious offering. Better still, if you come on the weekend, sit an enjoy a multi-course brunch with the family before heading onward.
As you leave Gilmanton, pick up Route 107 through Pittsfield and turn onto Route 9 west and return to Concord.
American Independence Byway
Love to explore history as you look at the scenery? Then you'll love the American Independence Byway. This Seacoast region drive begins in Exeter, a short 45-minute drive southwest from Concord.There's plenty to see, do and learn on this 21-mile route. Begin the loop in Exeter Center, home of the American Independence Museum and head south on Route 150 through Kensington. From here, jump onto Route 84 east. Looking for something fun to do? Stop at one of the many area orchards and take an apple-picking break! Then hop onto Route 1 North, the old stagecoach road from Portsmouth to Boston. As you pass by the beautiful salt marshes, waterways and ponds, keep an eye out for spectacular birds at this northern point along the Atlantic Flyway.
When your reach Route 27 head towards the coastal scenic Route 1A and enjoy even more impressive views and stop for a delicious fresh seafood diner as you listen to the soothing sounds of the waves and enjoy the crisp ocean breezes of fall!
